The Upper West Side of Manhattan is almost defined by its wealth. Its real estate market is so expensive that even the studio space in town continues to rise into stratospheres of incredible price. The roads are raised, the buildings are small, and the views continue to be amazing. The Upper West Side is a borough of two halves. The larger, more affluent half is where you will find Broadway and Central Park West. The smaller, less affluent half has its inhabitants hide in subways, for a good crosstown drive for a good crosstown walk.
In the West Bronx, it's nothing fancier than Potbelly or Port Morris. In the withered old West Bronx, when people speak of \"the Bronx,\" they actually mean West Farms, Riverdale, Pelham Bay. This is where politicians live, have their hair/beard trimmed (no, it's not in the Park, and even IF it was, it would be at the other end of the Park, not in the Park Towers), and eventually succeed in New York. This is where you will find the tallest building in Manhattan, a two volume structure of glass and steel that seems to perpetually be growing, and I want to be in it when it does. This is the Bronx. The Bronx is in a large, largely forgotten plaza on the eastern edge of the Park and often overlooked.
